An evening on Equine Metabolic Diseases at The Red House Hotel in Coupar Angus marked the start of a new relationship between Loch Leven Equine Practice and Thrums Vet Group. The evening was organised by Thrums to provide horse owners in Coupar Angus and Perthshire with a free educational evening and Hugh Somerville MRCVS was asked to talk on Equine Metabolic Diseases, and the causes and treatments that are available to horse owners.
Thrums Vet Group is a mixed practice with a thriving equine department covering Arbroath and Montrose in the east and over to Murthly and Glenshee in the west. Thrums have been sending LLEP referrals for a while now but the talk sees the launch of a new service where our vets will travel to Thrums to offer a referral service directly to client. The benefits mean that horse owners don't have to travel their horses down to us unless surgery is required and means that the treating vet from Thrums can be present as well, ensuring case continuity for the owner and allowing both vets to form a treatment plan together. We are really excited about how this new collaboration with Thrums can benefit the horse owning community in Coupar Angus.
